  • Building maintenance and exclusion practices for pest management purposes
  • Advice on good housekeeping and hygiene practices
  • Pest management inspections and monitoring
  • Physical control methods

We do not provide the same strategy for each client – we actually understand your business, its demands, the premises along with the environment that you are surrounded by i.e. water, surrounding industries and businesses etc as no site is the same. We then tailor a pest management strategy around that. Also, your pest management strategy will evolve and change due to seasons along with different changes in the local environment.

Common pests faced within the Building and Property Industry

Common pests faced by the building and property industry are as follows:

Termites

Termites mainly feed on wood, therefore, they can affect the strength and safety of an infested structure. It’s imperative that building structures and property be inspected for termites as they can render properties unliveable and make repair expensive.

Snakes

It is not unusual to find snakes on properties in Australia, however, it’s important not to approach or aggravate them if found. They can enter a property through holes or gaps. They can be found in bushes, piles of rubbish or building supplies.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are tiny wingless insects which can hide undetected in narrow cracks and crevices. They feed by sucking human blood which can result in skin rashes and allergic reactions. Bed Bugs can infest shops, offices, hospitals, patient waiting rooms and public transport.

Ants

Ant control is not always as easy as it seems. Even though ants do not eat a lot of food, it doesn’t take long for ants to infiltrate property. Ants can contaminate large quantities of food products, therefore requiring you to discard them due to health purposes.

Birds

Birds generally cause physical damage on roofs and can also lay their nest in those areas but without being diligent, birds may appear and live inside a building. Their droppings and feathers may contaminate surfaces and ruin furniture. There is also the risk of spreading viruses, bacteria and etc. Bird nesting can also bring about infestations of mites and fleas.

Cockroaches

Cockroach can cause hygiene and health issues by carrying disease-causing bacteria. Good sanitary and hygiene practices are required to help prevent infestations and issues. Cockroaches may enter from and hide in areas through spaces, pipe, windows and junction boxes to name a few. As cockroaches are primarily nocturnal, they are generally not visible to the human eye and therefore, difficult to detect.

Rats & Mice

Rats and mice can cause hygiene and health issues and generally breed and infest areas they come into contact with.

Rodents can enter through gaps in roofs, walls and under doors. They can also enter on pallets if your supplier has a pest problem.

Rodents can also cause inventory and product and packaging damage along with equipment machinery and electronic and wiring damage and structural damage to your premises or even tarnish your brand name.

How we deal with Pests

Our staff are highly trained to carry out an audit of your premises. They treat every business or company that they visit differently and tailor a programmed pest plan to suit the environmental factors, including seasons. We use technology as our helping hand to monitor and track incidents or to make changes to your bait stations in real-time. Your account manager and technician are then alerted in real-time in order to investigate any issues just in case any issues arise in between scheduled programmed maintenances.

You will then be provided with reports for your own purposes along with providing those reports to your customers.

Compliance

Regulatory bodies and policies are implemented to ensure pest control for building and Property comply with the appropriate measures for prevention, detection and control of pests. Compliance with best practice standards and statutory obligations include, but not limited to:

  • AS 3660.1 – Termite Management – New building work
  • AS 3660.3 – 2000: Termite management – Assessment criteria for termite management systems
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • APVMA approved pesticides
  • Biocide regulations
  • Occupational Safety Act

Whilst structuring your pest management strategy, we will also understand your micro-business needs which includes legal, industry and business requirements that you need to achieve. For example, our practices meet Australian standards for pest management. We can also adopt a compliance relevant to a third party supplier as well.

It is essential that building and property managers comply with the necessary pest control regulations. Heavy fines and penalties apply if businesses do not adhere to local council and State Government regulations that ensure all areas are pest, vermin and contamination free. Some states require licensed pest control to ensure compliance with these regulations.
